Famous for it's medieval city structure Siena is one of the most visited cities in Italy. Known as the "red city" Siena is home to the 17 Districts, the famous Palio race, and the large Piazza del Campo where young people gather every evening. Siena was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 and has many long standing traditions still in place.

Highlights
The heart of Siena is in its largest square Piazza del Campo. People gather in the open space every night for food or music and twice a year is where the Palio race is hosted. Siena also has the Santa Maria della Scala which now acts as a major museum inside the city in front of the unfinished Cathedral where you can walk across the part of the building to one of the best views of siena.

The traditions of Siena. When a new baby is born their district flag and their baby's gender is posted outside the family door as a welcome tradition.
The Santa Maria della Scala. What was once a safe-heaven for the poor is now an incredible museum.
The Church of San Domenico. A breathtaking Cathedral displaying the mummified head of St. Catherine.
Torre del Mangia. The name meaning "the Tower of the Eater" which is a tribute to the good food of the square as well as Giovanni di Balduccio.
Market Day. Every Wednesday at La Lizza there is a market where you can buy food, clothes, and lots of souvenirs, said to be the largest market in Tuscany!
