There are countless cities for shopping in Italy, but here I've described just the top four that are most popular- Florence, Rome, Venice, and Milan.
Florence is a good city to shop for artisan crafts, shoes, leather goods, and stationary. If in a search for luxury brands, head to the streets of Via Tornabuoni, Vi della Vigna Nuova, abd Via del Cakzaiuoli in the historic center. The shopping street- Via Giovan Battista Zannoni holds dozens of leather shops, including the popular Michelangelo’s Florentine Leather shop where you can find the most stylish bags, jackets, and quality accessories. Rome is definitely a city of wonder. It offers a wide variety of shopping opportunities from designer brands to small boutiques to flea markets and souvenir shops. For luxury shopping, head to the area near the Spanish Steps, as well as Via Condotti, and for chain stores, try Via del Corso. Venice is also a great place for shopping and one of Italy’s most popular destination spots. There are numerous souvenir stands selling cheap mass-produced items, but Venice also holds historic shops and boutiques with handmade masks and glass, two products Venice is famous for. The most famous shopping streets are in the Le Mercerie area of the San Marco district and the street from Rialto Bridge to St. Mark’s square are packed with stalls selling almost everything you can think of. Last but not least, there is Milan. This city is known for some of the best luxury hotels, restaurants, and boutiques. When in Milan, head to Via Montenapoleone and make sure to indulge yourself in shopping for the latest fashion trend. This shopping street is home to some of the most renowned fashion front designer boutiques and exquisite Italian shoemakers. Be sure to make a customary stop at this sophisticated shopping area and carry home the finest picks from Gucci, Dolce $ Gabbana, Prada, and Giorgio Armani. Brands such as Gucci even allow you to customize certain key products on their portfolio to create a perfect souvenir from Italy.

As the title suggests, my personal favorite place to shop was Bologna. Bologna is the capital and largest city of the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy. This city is often neglected on travel itineraries, but Bologna has plenty to offer, especially for a shopper. Being in Bologna, you'll feel like you're truly discovering the Italy's culture. You are far more likely to hear Italian rather than English and most times have difficulty communicating with shop owners. However, that should be reason itself to be in Bologna. Because of this, you will be able to observe the local fashion of Italy. There are so many more small boutiques in Bologna than in any of Italy's other famous hotspots and these kind of shops display the most authentic styles of Italy. You have to remind yourself that you are shopping in Italy and this means looking for clothes that you wouldn't find back home- a style and pattern that is particular to Italian fashion. So next time you go in a store, take extra seconds to think about that purchase in your hands. Is this Italian fashion? Is this something unique that I would only find here? And most important of all- am I in love with this clothing?
Good luck fellow shoppers. These are just some of the goods I brought back to the States from Italy. Of course, majority of my purchases were clothes, but fashion is different for everyone so I wanted to talk souvenirs. Everyone likes souvenirs. We like receiving gifts, but we also like to indulge on goods to show that we were just at this amazing country. So my tip for buying the perfect souvenir? It can have a "made in Italy" mark, iconic images, or customized lettering, but make sure that it screams "Italy."
